Random Notes Megapost!
Ok, ok, so this post isn't that "mega", but as it has been a while since my last post I have a handful of items to mention. So, onto the content...
First, the bad. I have generally been trying to avoid thinking about the BP-oil-spill-in-the-gulf situation. I know it's bad, really bad, but I have too much in my personal life going on to devote much concern to this. And besides, what good would my concern do? My friend sent me this and it made me laugh and cry a bit. It just proves that no matter how many resources we throw at the situation, nothing can surpass a bit of relevant knowledge and understanding. Warning, this article uses many an expletive, but makes good points despite. Oh, and a preface: booming is a technique for gathering oil that is drifting ashore. Now fearless readers, here you go: http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2010/5/11/865387/-Fishgrease:-DKos-Booming-School
After reading that, I need something to lift the spirits. To that end I present you with a bear that practices Kung Fu... hang it there, the toss is worth waiting for.
And I know I emailed this to a few people, but I had to post it too. While the band and the music are not that interesting, the drummer alone is well worth the time to watch. Enjoy, the most awesomely enthusiastic drumming of all time!
And with that I am out... until next time, dear readers.
Friday Fun: Flight of the Conchords!
I miss Flight of the Conchords, I wish their show was still on. Thank goodness their legacy lives on via the internets! And now for Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros...
Totally Awesome
So I have been far too busy to post lately, but I just could resist these two.
First, I think if I saw this guy somewhere I would be compelled to give him every cent that was on my person at the time.
Vampire Weekend: Contra
So there's this band, Vampire Weekend, that I love. Their eponymous first album was great, and their second, Contra, is proving to be just as good. I saw on their website that I could embed the entire album and a flash player here, so I thought "Why not?" If you have a minute, take a listen and enjoy.
Proof the Internet Holds Endless "Whys?" and WC3 at Toxic Bash '09!
First, this. Why you ask? Because it is the greatest combination of lame, fantastic, and hilarious.
Next, the Shake Weight! Why you ask, again? Because, once again, it is the greatest combination of lame, fantastic, and hilarious. The video is the best - the fear in the woman's eyes is priceless. It takes a minute for it to load, but I strongly encourage you to wait for it.
And finally, Toxic Bash went down this past Saturday and the Winston Churchill Trio rocked the house! Actually, it was the garage and the adjoining driveway. Anywho, it was a lot of fun and Nick and I have gotten ourselves one step closer to rockstardom. A special thanks goes out to Karin who acted as cinematographer, Michael and Anthony for being the most dynamic and dominating talent representation at the show, and Anthony (again) for his inspired (albeit redundant) drumming during the Semi-Productive (a.k.a Taco Flapper) set.
There are a few pictures available over at the MPRS Gallery, so peruse and enjoy. Until next time...
It's time to do it to it... Todd!
